Jake Woods, 88, of Ocilla, Georgia died Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2006, at Ocilla Cemetery with Elder Jerry Barrs officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Woods was born January 28, 1917, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Dan and Maggie Carter Woods. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Woods was a farmer and a former mechanic with Irwin County Motors. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Mr. Woods is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Danny G. and Dianne Woods of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law: Janice W. and David NeSmith; one grandson: Jason NeSmith of Hawkinsville; and one brother: Bill Woods of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Barrs Woods.
