Carol (McKinney) Gomes, 56, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Gomes.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of Norma (Stevens) McKinney and the late Robert R. McKinney, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for all of her life.
She was a longtime employee of Southcoast Healthcare.
Carol enjoyed cross-stitching, doing puzzles, playing Mahjong, gardening and walking her grand-dog. She loved nature, sunsets on Gooseberry Neck and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Norma; her daughter, Sara Mills and her husband Jarred; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Madisyn Mills; her sister, Joanne McKinney; her nephew, Christopher McKinney and his wife Lindsay; her companion, Eric Martin; her "adopted" children; and other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11 AM at Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, 11 Anderson Way, Dartmouth. She will be buried privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. For online guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
