Betty Jean Purvis Meadows, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, July 22, 2019, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, July 25, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Meadows was born January 14, 1938, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Jim Boa & Lelar Van Graham Melton. She lived in the community all of her life and was a supervisor for Fitzgerald Underwear, Irwin Manufacturing and Champion. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, quilting, bead work and working in the yards. Mrs. Meadows loved her family dearly and her poodle Sassy. She was of the Church of God Faith.
She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Lee Brady & Jeffery of Martin and Aniece Waldron & Gil of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: John Ashe & Kenya and Andrew Ashe & Abby; great-grandchildren: Kourtland Melton, Kyndell Bynum, Kenley Ashe, Caiden Ashe, Rob Ashe and Easyn Ashe. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Meadows and a sister Georgia Revell.
