Obituary

John Franklin “Johnny” Holt, 74, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Phillip Simmons, the Rev. Robert Beggs and the Rev. Gary Zeigler officiating. Raymond Mullis will give a eulogy. Mr. Holt will be laid to rest at Oaky Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Timothy Hall, Ron Hall, Billy Hester, Lynn Shaw, Bart Holt, Mike Weldon, John Bernard, Robert Fields will serve as pallbearers. Cedar Bennett will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Born March 14, 1945 in Irwin County, Mr. Holt was the son of the late Charlie Mack Holt, Sr. and Evelyn Williams Holt. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Mack Holt Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Bryan, Pauline Churchill and Janice Clark. Before retiring, he was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Hall Community Church in Berrien County and loved music, fishing and refurbishing old vehicles. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.

Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Betty Vaughn Holt of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Matthew and Kasi Holt of Bartow, Florida; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Kathryn and Pepe Lara of Winter Haven, Florida; and Heather Mouser Fields and husband, Robert Fields and Robin and John Bernard, all of Bartow, Florida; two brothers, Jack Holt of Lenox and Danny Holt of Dothan, Alabama; four sisters, Sandra Borntregger of Ashburn, Patsy Huffstetler of Barney, Linda Shellhouse of Tifton and Sharon Lynch of Ellijay; and six grandchildren.
