Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Haggart (Mr. Berlin), 73, a lifelong resident of Berlin and local icon, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital after a battle with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer). He was born in Berlin on January 20, 1946 the son of the late Donald W. and Catherine (Murphy) Haggart. A member of Good Shepherd Parish, Bobby was also an honorary member of the Berlin Fire Department.

Bobby “never met a stranger”. He enjoyed walking, talking and reminiscing with everyone he met. He received citations from the Mayor and City Council for Saving Lives in Berlin, was actively involved with the St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts and volunteered with Senior meals. Bobby was able to travel to Colorado to see his sister on five different occasions, visited his brother in Vermont, and traveled all around New Hampshire. He also attended most sporting events and actively participated in city council meetings. Bobby was always on alert for anyone who needed help, especially the elderly and handicapped. Be it shoveling snow, carrying their groceries, helping them out of cars or loading a wheelchair, he would do whatever was needed to help. No task was too small or too big for him.

Members of the family include his brother Richard Haggart and wife Jacqueline of Colchester, VT; sister Kathleen Reddig and late husband Bill of Littleton, CO; 5 nieces and nephews Jyl, Jamie, Janna, Scott and Shawn; great nieces and nephews Makayla, Calvin, Kennedy, Nolan and Ryan. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Charlie Haggart.

Bobby’s family would like to give special thanks and their deep appreciation to all of his “Berlin Family”. An extra special thanks to the staff at Berlin City Hall, Berlin Fire Dept., Maureen’s Boutique, Gold House, Supreme Pizza, Berlin Senior Center and Dunkin Donuts, just to name a few. Also to the entire staff at Coos County Nursing Home and the nurses at AVH, you always made him feel so special. To each and every person in the City of Berlin who was a part of his life, thank you.
