CHICOPEE – Theresa M. “Terry” (Gadoua) Barns, 82, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 18, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Malone, New York on June 26, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Emile J. Gadoua and Florence (Monette) Gadoua Gladu. She was raised in Malone, New York and later moved to Holyoke where she lived for many years before moving to Chicopee around 1962. She was employed for over 20 years at the Holyoke News Company and retired in 2002. She was a member of the Chicopee Senior Center and was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker to her family. She enjoyed sneaking chocolates and salt whenever she could even though she was not supposed to. During her leisure time, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of over 51 years, Kemsie W. “Kem” Barns who was Called Home on July 16, 2006. She leaves her four loving children, Earl K. “Butch” Barns and his wife, Pamela, of Chicopee, Linda C. Martin and her husband, Thomas, and Susan M. Jensen and her husband, Peter, all of Springfield and James L. Barns of Chicopee; her six cherished grandchildren, Kelly L. Graham and her husband, James Graham IV, Thomas W. Martin, Jr., Randy V. Martin, Joseph H. DeMarco and his fiancée, Cassandra “Cassie” Conrad, Clifford P. Jensen and his wife, Natalie, and Nikki T. Kelly and her husband, Jason; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Jennifer Graham, Valerie, Arabella and Roen DeMarco and Nina and Cole Jensen; her two dear brothers, Donald Gadoua and Francis Gadoua, both of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Barns and Gadoua families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished great-grandson, Luke DeMarco who was Called Home on March 5, 2014; her dear brother, Leo Gadoua; and her three dear sisters, Rita Henault and her husband, Charles, Mary Windoloski and her husband, Fred, and Joan Burnham. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 10:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
