Vernie Berney Greene, 76, of Tifton passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mrs. Greene will be laid to rest at Salem Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 19, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Tim Bowling, Nick Partin, Joey Slayton and Brandon Lipps will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 2, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Greene was the daughter of the late Donn Berney, Sr. and Janet Schroeder Berney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Greene, who passed away December 4, 2018. Before retiring, she worked as a para-professional at the Tifton Pre-K Center. She was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Greene is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Espejo, Connie Partin and Rhonda Bowling; eight grandchildren, Summer Deutsch, Amber Lipps, Joey Slayton III, Nicholas Partin, Jaimie Partin, Brooke Partin, Tim Bowling and Amanda Bowling; ten great-grandchildren, Sierra, Brody, Garrett, Carter, Mason, Tyler, Faith, Grace, Ellie and Braxton; and her brothers and sisters, Mark Berney, Fred Berney, Patsy Perry, Lorraine Berney, Christine House and Donn Berney, Jr.
