Obituary

CHICOPEE – Richard A. Giguere, 80, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 13, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on October 29, 1938, a beloved son of the late Arthur J. and Marie L. (Beaulieu) Giguere. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee around 1989. He served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Airman Apprentice. He was a Licensed Electrician and was employed for many years at several local factories and last worked at the Springfield Wire & Cable Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council No. 69 and the Daniel A. Doyle Fourth Degree Assembly No. 2631 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, and the Laurier Club, both in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He leaves his two loving children, Renee L. Crochetiere and her partner, Brian King, of Holyoke and Donald A. Giguere and his wife, Aleona Soboleva, of Chicopee; his seven cherished grandchildren, Heather Boutin and her husband, Ronald, Brittany Crochetiere, Polina Soboleva, Daniel Giguere, Matthew Verathal, Brian Giguere and Lindsay Giguere; his cherished great-grandchildren; his devoted companion, Claire F. Barron of Chicopee; his dear brother, Edgar Giguere of Chicopee; his former wife, Dorilda J. (DuBois) Giguere of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Giguere and Dubois families. In addition to his beloved parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved son, David R. Giguere who was Called Home on August 21, 2008; his cherished grandson, David R. Giguere who was Called Home on February 6, 1994; and his two dear brothers, Robert Giguere and Ernest Giguere. His funeral will be on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (the funeral home will open at 11 a.m.) follow by a Mass of Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. before the Mass.
