Jerry "Danny" Wilson, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and daughters on Saturday, July 6, 2019, following an extended illness.
Danny was born June 3, 1955 in Monterey, Tennessee to Jerry Baxter and Vauda Mae Wilson. He resided in Chesterfield/ Anderson, Indiana most of his life, but was a Tennessee boy at heart.
Danny was a 1974 graduate of Highland High School. After graduation he was hired by the American Red Cross, where he dedicated 13 years managing transportation for the disabled and overseeing the garage.
Later in life, he would spend 12 years working for A&K Distributors where customers knew him for his long hair, beard and sense of humor. Danny was a jack of all trades, but he was known to most people for his auto mechanic skills. He was a hard worker, who was not afraid to get his hands dirty.
Danny never met a stranger. You could always count on him for a good laugh with a story or joke and even words of wisdom. He was always ready to lend a hand or help someone in need.
Survivors include Carolyn Wilson, his lifelong partner and best friend; two daughters, Danielle Wilson and Amanda (George) Ancil of Anderson; 3 grandsons, Andrew Ancil, Brandon Ancil and Skyler Ancil, all of Anderson; niece, YuLanda Mae Foley; nephews, Anthony Lee Foley, Rusty (Chasity) Jones and great-nephews, Isaiah York, Ethan Hawks, Wyatt Hawks and Austin Walker, all of Tennessee.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Baxter Wilson; mother, Vauda Mae (Jones) Wilson; sisters, Donna (Wilson) Jones and Debbie (Wilson) Flesher; maternal grandmother, Lassie (Ledbetter) Jones and nephew, Jesse Earl Foley.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Rd., Anderson. The funeral will immediately follow at 4:00pm with Ned Clark officiating. Cremation will take place.
The family is planning a BBQ for friends and family in celebration of Danny's life. Additional details will be posted online via Facebook at a later date.
