Whitman – Roy J. Blanchard 72, died Tuesday July 9 after a long period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of forty years to Jean E. (Parsons) Blanchard.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Clifford and Claire Blanchard.
Prior to his retirement Roy had worked for over 30 years as security for Draper Metals.
In addition to his loving wife Jean he is survived by his children Heather Schlieff and her husband Buddie of Lexington, KY, Sabrina Blanchard of Bridgewater and Jonathan Blanchard of Whitman, and his brother Lonnie Blanchard and his wife Chris of Brockton.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Nolan, Rebecca, Christina, Nathan, Isabele, Emily and Sophia Schlieff, Mason Blanchard, and Hunter and Wesley Slater and his nephews Mike, Derek, Richard, Josh and Jason Blanchard as well as his brother and sister-in-law and many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday July 27 at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
