Obituary

Wallace D. Arruda, 84, of New Bedford died July 8, 2019 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Shirley A. (Gill) Arruda.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Henry S. and Grace D. (Bucklin) Arruda, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Arruda was formerly employed by Goodyear for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Arruda was a sports fanatic and enjoyed volunteering many years at S.E.Y.A.A. running the canteen.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Arruda and his wife Carol of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Susan Arruda-Suffoletto and her husband Guy of Fairhaven, Janice Trudelle and her husband Randall and Nancy Charbonneau and her husband Chris, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Gordon Arruda of Florida and Paul Arruda of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Debra Asquino and the brother of the late Cal Bosworth, Betty Bentley and Norma Woodacre.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2019 at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His visiting hours will be held on Monday July 15, 2019 from 4-8 PM.
