Jean A. Cox, 88

Jean A. (Biatek) Cox, age 88, of Taunton, formerly of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cox, Sr., to whom she was wed for fifty-four years at the time of his death on September 27, 2008.
Born in North Andover, MA on June 20, 1931, she was a loving daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Ross) Biatek.
Jean grew up in North Andover, was a graduate of North Andover High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Framingham State College.
A resident of Taunton for the past ten years, Mrs. Cox was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for twenty-six years in the towns of Holbrook and Braintree.
Jean was an avid reader and volunteered her time at the Holbrook and Port Orange Public Library’s. She enjoyed worldwide traveling, but most of all loved spending time with her adoring family.
She is survived by her devoted children: Marilyn J. Cox of Taunton, David C. Cox and his wife Lisa of Nashua, NH, Beverly S. Glassman and her husband Wayne of Norton and the late John J. Cox, Jr. She was the cherished grandmother of Ronald and his wife Kristen, Amanda, Jessica and her husband Chris, Andrew, David and his wife Laura, Michael and Valerie, and was the great grandmother of Lucy, Violet, Rose, Avery and Thomas. She was pre-deceased by her brother Ross Biatek.
Services, along with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Spencer will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember Jean with a donation in her memory made to the charity of one’s choice.
