Obituary

A. ROBERTA M. (PRESCOTT) KRAUSE, age 92, beloved wife of the late Frederick H. Krause, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11th, 2006. She was born in West Roxbury and grew up on the New England coast in the Germantown section of Quincy, moving to Hingham many years ago. The oldest of three very talented children, she has written extensively of her childhood memories, reminiscent of the play "Our Town". A talented artist, her paintings have been exhibited thoughout the 'East Coast'. Painting in a very detailed style, her works stood out to all who viewed them. She also carved many substances to create figurines and still life. Her rug braiding, chair caneing and tooled leather work were always admired. An avid horticulturist, many gardens adorned her property, growing much of the produce served to her family and guests in her great home cooked meals. She was very active in the Dorothy Bradford Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Hingham, The Daughter of the American Revolution, The Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, The Quabin Association, The Quincy Historical Society and art associations throughout the area. Roberta worked for a successful real estate appraisal commpany until its closing in her mid 80's. A talented singer, she sang with many musical groups, still having a great voice into her 90's.

She leaves her son, Frederick P. Krause of Whitman and daughter, Louise R. McKenzie of Chatham, NH. She was the grandmother of Gayle Burns of East Bridgewater, Lisa Cloutier of Chester, NH, Erin Wentworth of Stoneham, ME, Marc Krause of Whitman, Heidi Cook of Pittsfield, NH, James Krause of Halifax, Prescott Krause of Whitman, Jacob McKenzie of Chatham, NH and Karen Campos of East Bridgewater. Also survived by 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 16th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.

Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 1-5 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Resident Council Fund, c/o Mildred Alford Nursing Home, 81 Birch St., No. Abington, MA 02351.

The interment is to be private.
