SOMERSET – Elzira “Elsie” (Cordeiro) Camara, age 91 of Somerset since 1941, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2019 in the comforts of her home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Pedro & Mary (Medeiros) Cordeiro Canivete and the beloved wife of the late Jerome M. Camara.
Prior to retiring, Elsie worked as a machine operator for the local garment mfg. companies. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, a member of the Am Vets Aux. #72, and a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
Survivors include her son: Brian S. Camara (fiancée Angie Macedo) of Somerset and her daughter: Kathleen Camara of NY; 5 grandchildren: Mathew, David, Jessica, Craig Michael, and Jeremy Camara; 5 great grandchildren: Ellary, Morgan, Phoebe, Sidney, and Bella Rose Camara; nieces and nephews. Elsie was the mother of the late Christopher A. Camara and the sister of the late Louis Cordeiro and Irene Rapoza.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, July 13th at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours on Friday, July 12th from 4:00-8:00 P.M.
