SOUTHWICK ~ Pauline F. (DeVanna) Vedovelli, 79, of Southwick, was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 5, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at her beloved home in Southwick surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on December 31, 1939, a beloved daughter of the late Francisco and Angela (Amendologini) DeVanna. She was raised in Pittsfield, graduated from Pittsfield High School and then furthered her education and graduated as a Radiologic Technologist from Saint Luke’s Hospital in Pittsfield. Around 1960, she came to Springfield and was employed at the former Springfield Hospital which later became Baystate Medical Center. She worked there for many years and following her retirement, she worked per diem as a Mammography Technician at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. Pauline was very proud of her Italian Heritage and was a loving Nonnie to her cherished grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and always enjoyed cooking her famous Italian dishes and making her wonderful Italian cookies which were a special treat to her family. Pauline was a devout Catholic, she was very proud of her faith and was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Anthony L. Vedovelli Jr. They were married on October 2, 1965, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield and were blessed with over 53 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Lisa A. Zenkin and her husband, Walter, of Burlington, MA, Christine W. Vedovelli Peterson of Southwick, and Amy M. Crowley and her husband, Brian, of West Springfield; her nine cherished grandchildren who loved their Nonnie, Nicholas, Lily, Amelia and Sophie Zenkin, Gabriela Paulina, Christopher and Annalise Peterson, and Chloe and Brianne Crowley; her two dear brothers-in-law, John Vedovelli of Springfield and William Vedovelli and his wife, Roberta, of Florida; her dear sister-in-law, Patricia Rix and her husband, Reign, of Southwick; and her nephews including Bob, her loving nieces including Angela and Cindy, and her many dear cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Vedovelli and DeVanna families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear sisters, Lucia Fitzgerald and Anna Demary, and her dear brother, Nunzio DeVanna. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning, July 9, 2019 at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Thomas Cemetery, 420 Kings Highway, West Springfield, MA 01089. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
