Colleen Dees Coburn, 92, of Tifton passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Allen Mullis officiating. Mrs. Coburn will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Coburn’s grandsons and granddaughter will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 27, 1927 in Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Coburn was the daughter of the late W. J. Dees, and Lessie Mae Beaty Dees. She was also preceded in death by her husband, A. E. Coburn, Jr.; one son-in-law, Danny Smith; and three sisters, Shirley Eason, Grace Marshall and Margaret Lawrence. Before retiring, Mrs. Coburn was employed with K-Mart in the Receiving Department. She was a member and a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Master Judge on the Tift County Council of Garden Clubs. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown.
Mrs. Coburn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Albert E. III and Caryl Coburn of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marilyn and David Hamilton of Andrews, North Carolina and Carolyn Smith of Lenox; three brothers and one sister-in-law, William Wallace and Pat Dees of Carrollton, John G. Dees of Macon and Robert Tracy Dees of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Frankie Oliver of Brunswick, Peggy Carson of Americus and Faye Knowles of Hampton; and five grandchildren, Sam Smith, Rod Smith, Ed Carroll, Alex Hamilton and Kelli Coburn.
