John P. Slosek Sr, age 88, was called safely home on July 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 6, 1931 in Springfield, a son of the late Stephen and Sophie (Chawalek) Slosek. John served in the US Army during the Korean War era. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish. He worked as a warehouse manager for Uniroyal for many years before he retired. He was a member of the Polish American Veterans Club in Wilbraham. John played the accordion, he enjoyed to play Bingo, to decorate for holidays and bird watching. He would often say, "When the birds are happy, you're happy". He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bridget (Doyle) Slosek of Indian Orchard; two sons, John P. Slosek, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Springfield and Michael Slosek of Indian Orchard; one sister, Adelle Andre of Wilbraham; two beloved grandchildren, Rachel Slosek-Couture and her husband Matthew of Chicopee and John P. Slosek III of Springfield and two great grandchildren Grant and Remy Couture. He also leaves his brother-in-law Patrick Doyle and his sister-in-law Claire Doyle along with many nieces and nephews and his favorite cat Fluffy. He is predeceased by his siblings Milton, Stanley, Charlie, Jennie and Sophie. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Spectrum Home Health and Hospice Services, especially Maria for the special care she had given him during his final days. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM at the Grise` Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A private burial will be held at a later date.
