Obituary

James “Jim” “Jimmy” Calo, of Plainsboro, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 28th. He was 57. Born in Stoneham and raised in Medford, he was the son of Shirley (Decker) and the late Edward Calo.

Jim was self-sufficient and a hard worker, everything he did to advance in his career he did on his own which made him succeed in his executive positions at Cooper and Lybrand, VF Corporation, Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Under Armour and Li & Fung. Jim and his loving wife Diana and their children moved frequently throughout the country before settling in New Jersey.

A natural people person, Jim loved everyone, and they loved him. No matter how long, where or when you met Jim you were instantly connected. He was everyone’s best friend, his sense of humor, caring personality, and his ability to help anyone made him one of a kind. He was old school when it came to communicating he connected with people by calling them he loved listening to their stories and knowing how their day was.

A hopeless romantic, with a touch of spontaneity Jim loved to surprise Diana with the most personal and unique gifts, each gift was perfectly planned out and strategically placed, either a bouquet of flowers, preferably roses which Jim’s bouquets consisted of 100’s of roses, or hand written love letters to be read on days that he was out of town for business. Jim would always have the perfect gift ready for Diana no matter the occasion.

Jim loved to travel with his family, he had many favorite places to visit, but he was especially fond of Italy, and was always up to planning the next visit with everyone. An avid sports fanatic he enjoyed watching horse racing, football and hockey, and debating with his dad over the phone who the best team was, who would win, who was the worst player, regardless if they both agreed.

Jim’s biggest passion was his family. He loved spending time with his wife and their four children. Jim’s family were his pride and joy, they were his world. He was a dedicated husband, the best dad, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.

James was the beloved husband of Diana (Di Biasio) Calo. He was the devoted father of Nicholas, Cassandra, Victoria and Julia Calo. He was the dear brother of Linda Calo, Diane Cullen and her husband Jim, Nancy Sullivan and her husband Gerry and Eddie Calo and his wife Elisa. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
