Noel Scott
April 8, 1947-June 28, 2019

Noel Newton Scott was born in Kingston, Jamaica on April 8, 1947 to the late Lester Scott of Clarendon, Jamaica and Zoey Robinson of St. Thomas, Jamaica. He lived and grew up in Kingston, Jamaica with his mother and brother Winston Scott but often traveled to the countryside of Morant Bay, St. Thomas to visit family. While young he migrated to Wolverhampton, England to join his brother and mother who left Jamaica seeking a better life and more employment opportunities.

In England, Noel quickly learned to adapt to this new environment. He made many friends with other young people that migrated from Jamaica as well and worked a variety of jobs. His first marriage was with a woman who he met, Jennifer and out of their union they had Steven Scott, who predeceased him in 2015. Steven frequently came to the United States to visit his grandmother and dad.

Noel permanently moved to New York then Boston, Massachusetts in the early 1980s. He attended Wentworth College and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Machine Tooling. Excited about being in Boston he was able to reconnect with his father and siblings living in Dorchester. While working for the State he met a woman named, Janet and out of their union had two daughters, Simone and Nicole, respectively. He enjoyed advocating for his community and remained an active participant of the Jamaican social scene in Franklin Field Park often playing dominoes with fellow neighbors on the weekends. Noel enjoyed listening to music, playing chess and often debating about politics on a daily basis.

In early 2015, Noel was diagnosed with Stage III lung cancer and given months to live. Beating the odds, Noel maintained his independence up until last year when the disease progressed ultimately succumbing to the disease on June 28, 2019. He is survived by his two daughters, Simone Campbell and Nicole Felix, his sisters, Rose Herron-Scott (Coventry, England), Panchita and Sandra Scott, sister-in-law, Silvia Scott, eight grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews including his cousins and great cousins (Toronto, Canada), family and friends.
He loved his children and knew God as his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
