Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Roland R. “Joe” Boutin, 78, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, June 27, 2019. He entered into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on December 21, 1940, a beloved son of Roger Roland Boutin of Leesburg, FL and the late Dorothy (Bedell) Boutin. He was raised in Granby and moved to Fairview in 1962 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as a Firefighter for 31 years for the City of Chicopee and retired on May 20, 1999 with the rank of Captain from Station 5 on Chicopee Street. For many years, he also owned and operated Boutin TV & Repair in Chicopee where he always answered the phone as “Joe Boots”. He was a member of the Chicopee Firefighters Local 1710. An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed his 1970 Corvette and his old Cadillac. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends and fellow firefighters. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Maureen E. (Greaney) Boutin. They were married on July 4, 1962 at Saint Jerome Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 56 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Leslie M. Boutin of Springfield, Roger R. Boutin and his wife, Marie, of Chicopee and William J. Boutin and his wife, Rebecca, of Feeding Hills; his five cherished grandchildren, Joshua P. Boutin, Olivia F. McClure, Katherine M. Boutin, Emily R. Boutin and Jacob R. Boutin; his dear sister, Barbara Roy and her husband, Donald, of Tunnel Hill, GA, his two dear brothers-in-law, Victor Brisbois of Florida and Eugene Greaney and his wife, Elizabeth, of South Hadley; his two dear sisters-in-law, Kathleen Giminiani and her husband, Jack, of Wilbraham and Helen Biglin and her husband, John, of Florida; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, fellow firefighters and extended members of the Boutin and Greaney families. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Janice Brisbois. His family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 4 p.m.). The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home. His burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
