Alice H. (Maguire) Marcella in her 100th year, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Rosewood Alliance Health Care in Peabody.
Alice was born in Boston on November 20, 1919, a daughter of the late Thomas Maguire and Anne (Carr) Maguire. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1937. Alice worked for many years as a Waitress at Blinstrub's and Fantasia's. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and line dancing. Alice's biggest joy in her life were the family get together's at the beach or the simple family dinners where she would cook and then bake her famous toll house cookies especially for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and was also a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Alice is the beloved wife of the late Albert R. Marcella. She is the devoted Ma to Carol Sprague, Albert M. Marcella and his wife Dottie, Edward Marcella and his wife Mary Catherine, Mary Carey and her husband Leo, Catherine Picard and her husband Joe and the late Alice Whitt. She is the loving Ma to Nancy, Marcella, Kerry, Michelle, Michael, Cammie, Jackie, Janet, Toni, Allison, Caroline, Thomas, Joseph, Lauren, Tracy, Catherine, Alec and her 26 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late John Maguire, Francis Maguire, Thomas Maguire and Joseph Maguire. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Alice's Funeral on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
