Thomas M. McCarthy
Retired Materials Handler for General Electric
TEWKSBURY: Thomas M. McCarthy, age 61, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, formerly of Wakefield, passed away at his home on Friday, June 21, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Karen L. (Ferrick) McCarthy, with whom he celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on October 26, 2018.
Born in Somerville on September 20, 1957, he was the son of the late Leonard and Dorothea (Hallinan) McCarthy.
Tom was raised in Somerville and Wakefield, and graduated from Wakefield High School.
Prior to his retirement in January of this year, he was employed for 38 years by the General Electric Company in Lynn, where he worked as a materials handler.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, tinkering in his yard, traveling to York Beach in Maine, following the Boston Bruins, and the companionship of his Black Lab “Bailey”.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, Shannon L. Stedman and her husband Eric of North Andover, and Derry, NH Police Officer, Daniel J. McCarthy and his fiancé Kim Carucci of Londonderry, NH; his granddaughter, Quinn G. Stedman of North Andover; siblings, Maureen Reynolds and her husband Vinny of Beverly, Paul McCarthy and his wife Cheryl of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Tricia Cunningham and her husband Phil of Marstons Mills, MA; also many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Tom was the brother of the late Jack McCarthy.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 27, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. At the request of the family there are No Funeral Services.
