Janet Elizabeth (Orlando) Devine, 79, of Foxboro formerly of Walpole died June 20 in Norwood Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Norwood, June 1, 1940 the daughter of the late Guerino”Skeets” and Anna (Flanagan) Orlando, Mrs. Devine was raised and had lived in Walpole until moving to Foxboro 15 years ago.
She was a graduate of Walpole High School and the Chandler School for Girls.
Janet had worked at the Walpole Stop & Shop for over 20 years before retiring.
Janet had been active in Walpole Town politics and had served as a Representative Town Meeting Member. She had also been a scout leader for both the Boys and Girls Scouts and a CCD teacher.
She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers.
She is survived by her children, Pamela DiGiacomo of Walpole, John Devine and his wife Shanda of Foxboro and Paula Allen of Attleboro.
She is also survived by her siblings, Lawrence Orlando of Walpole and Florence McAlister of Foxboro. She was the sister of the late June Orlando.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Joe DiGiacomo, Molly Devine and Finn Devine.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
