Clare M. Burt, 93, of Derry, NH died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mrs. Burt was born in Butler, NJ on September 23, 1912, a daughter of the late George and Barbara (Guenter) Fritz. Mrs. Burt graduated from St. Anthony School in Butler, NJ and also from St. Vincent Hospital Nursing School in New York City in 1934. She worked as a registered nurse in various capacities in the healthcare field. Following her retirement she moved to Cape Cod in 1969 and operated The Sea & Sand Restaurant in North Eastham, MA. She then moved to NH in 1980. Mrs. Burt was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry.
She is survived by six sons, John Burt and his wife Phyllis of Sparta, NJ, George Burt and his wife Rose Elaine of Clearwater, FL, William Burt and his wife Linda of North Eastham, MA, Francis Burt and his wife Debra of Chester, NH, Richard Burt-Willson and his wife Kay of Southfield, MI and Bernard Burt and his wife Lois of North Eastham. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Burt.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 14th, 2006 at 10 AM in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Calling hours were from 6-8pm Friday, January 13th at the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. The burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center Activities Fund, 8 Peabody Road, Derry, NH 03038.
