QUINCY - Beatrice (Peers) McDermott, 78, of Quincy, formerly of Hyde Park, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a lengthy illness. She was the former wife of the late Joseph J. McDermott.
Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary C. (McKinney) Peers.
Mrs. McDermott was a manager for the former New England Telephone Co.
She was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. She was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her children, Michael F. of Falmouth, Stephen J. and his wife Colleen of Falmouth and Linda Grant and her husband William of Brockton; two brothers, James T. Peers and his wife Patricia of Braintree and Alan D. Peers and his wife Carol of Mashpee; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was the former wife of the late Joseph J. McDermott. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday at 9:45 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 10:30 am. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 pm. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
