Richard P. D'Alessandro, Sr., lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Saturday, June 15th. He was 70. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Gange) D'Alessandro.
Richard loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He always made sure to make time individually for each of his five grandchildren. Taking them fishing in New Hampshire, sitting on the beach or taking a walk, they made many everlasting memories. One of Richard’s most recent and proudest, moments was becoming a great-papa to baby Michael Anthony. Richard was a dedicated husband, a great dad, a loving papa and great-papa, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
Richard was the beloved husband of the late Lenore (Couto) D’Alessandro. He was the devoted father of Sheri Calcagni and her Husband Anthony, Jr. of Newton, Lenore Meyer of Natick and Richard D’Alessandro, Jr. of Medford. He was the loving Papa of Anthony, III, and Alessio Calcagni, Nicholas Meyer, Joseph D’Alessandro, Brianna D’Alessandro and her fiancé Michael Brancato, and the loving great-papa of Michael Anthony Brancato, Jr. He was the dear brother of Marie D’Alessandro and the late Thomas D’Alessandro.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Thursday, June 20th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum, Everett.
