New Bedford– Maria D. Gil, age 94, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late August P. Gil.
Maria was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores to the late Jose and Francisca (Camara) Dos Santos. She moved to this area in 1952 where she worked as a stitcher for seval local textile manufacturers until her retirement. Maria loved to travel the world and enjoyed going out to eat.
She is survived by her children, Maria A. Crocker and her husband Donald and August P. Gil and his wife Mary Ann; Granddaughter, Brianne Gil.
Maria’s visiting hours will be on Wednesday June 19th from 5-7 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.
