Catherine M. (McElaney) Murphy, 87, died at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood on Tuesday, January 10 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late John J. “Jack” Murphy. Born in Charlestown, Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston. She was a resident of Stoughton since 1951. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her children, Karen M. Tracy of Walpole, John K. Murphy of Canton, Brian M. Murphy of Harwich, Peter J. Murphy of Norwell and Cathy A. Hansen of Mansfield. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Murphy and 8 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 6-8 PM. Donations in Catherine’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund Tribute Program, 1 Harvard St., Brookline, 02146-9795. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
