Joyce E. (Adams) Carpentier, age 81 of Brockton passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Boston Medical Center. Joyce was the wife of the late Edwin F. Walsh and the late Richard Carpentier. She was born in Brockton on April 12, 1938 to the late John G. Adams (Adamopoulos) and Edith (Crawley) Adams. She leaves behind one son, Daniel Walsh and his wife Andrea, her dearest and longest friend Janis Tilden, many lifelong friends that were family to her, and her regal cat, Cleo.
Joyce was born and raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1955. She worked as a bookkeeper at Brockton Public Markets and continued in the same profession for many years at many other local offices and industries.
She was at one time fond of Polka music and dancing and had attended local music festivals around the area. She loved Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, and music from the golden era of Rock N’ Roll. She also was open to newer music, as well.
One of her other passions was cooking. Joyce thoroughly enjoyed cooking hearty food that made people feel at home and loved. Rumor has it her clam chowder was the best and will surely be missed.
Her retirement was spent helping others. Despite her physical limitations, she took time every day to help and be of service to those around her. She will be missed by all and will not be forgotten.
Joyce will be laid to rest on June 14, 2019 at Pine Hills Cemetery in West Bridgewater. Due to the hasty nature of the funeral, a larger and more inclusive Celebration of Life is planned for later this year. Respond to [email protected] to be included. You are also encouraged to send photos and stories there as well.
