Bruce A. Johnson passed away in an accident at his home on June 12, 2019 at the age of 68. He was a beloved father, great big brother, and friend to many. He is survived by children Elizabeth “Beth” (Pat), Marilynn, and Michelle; wife of 41 years Alice; and brother Wayne (Karen). Affectionately known as “Uncle Bruce” to Amanda, Ross, and the large extended Hause family. Preceded in death by his father Eino, mother Elizabeth Fick, and sister Linda.
He was born on November 25, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1969. He earned degrees in Chemical Engineering and Food Technology from Iowa State University. Bruce married Alice Hause in 1974 and together they raised three daughters in Mahtomedi, MN. Bruce worked at Mogul Corp. focusing on water treatment for 12 years and then retired from Donaldson Co. after 22 years. Bruce was a great researcher and air filtration expert, which earned him 5 patents.
Bruce had a love for outdoor adventures, appreciation for nature, and passion for healthy living. He enjoyed hiking, biking, planning trips to the Boundary Waters, and exploring nature with the MN Rovers. Other hobbies included growing healthy foods, beekeeping, bird watching and star gazing. He truly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and infectious enthusiasm about these activities with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME; 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul. A Time of Sharing will follow at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sierra Club or your favorite State or National park are preferred.
