Arthur W. “Art” “Butch” Killough, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Westside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. David During and the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Killough was born August 31, 1943, in Fairfield, Alabama, to the late Arthur L. & Pauline Foster Killough. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Mr. Killough retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and moved to the community in 2000 from Douglasville. He was very active in Pine Level Lodge #353 F.&A.M., Hasan Shrine, and the Ben Hillbilly Clan #62. He served as treasurer for many of these organizations. He was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Killough was an avid golfer and a great supporter of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed listening to country music as well. Mr. Killough was an active member of Westside Baptist Church where he also served as treasurer.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy During & Don of Fitzgerald; granddaughter: Chelsea Dowling & Dalton of Rebecca ; special grandchildren: Abigail Sumner, Bryanna Sumner and Emily During; brothers and sisters: Hershel & Brenda Killough of Saucier, Mississippi, Shirley & Wayne Bishop of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, Chuck & Dedra Killough of Alabaster, Alabama, Jackie & Dan Whalen of Marion, Alabama and Pam Mayes of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the During family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Martin Killough.
