Marie E. (Gilmete) Lopes, 59, of New Bedford passed away Thursday June 6, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John A. Lopes.
A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Marie was formerly employed as a customer service representative for Comcast until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Moniz and her fiancé Markus Rodriguez; her parents, Henrique and Clara (Gomes) DaSilva; her siblings, Eugenia Ortiz, Linda Gilmete, and Robert DaSilva; three grandchildren, Jaelyn Rodriguez, Tatiana Rodriguez, and Justine Moniz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Justin Moniz, and daughter of the late Marcelino Gilmete.
