Ester “Lenard” Ellis, 78, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Ellis at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Gary Cadwell and the Rev. Steve Tucker will officiate.
Born September 7, 1940 in Brookfield, Georgia, Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Kano Anderson Ellis and Jessie Ola Wynn Ellis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmie William Ellis and James Vernon Ellis. He was a self-employed cattle farmer and also worked at J. P. Stevens and Shaw Carpet. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Patsy Greene Ellis of Tifton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Martha Ellis, Sharon Ellis, Marilyn and Mark Norton and Shirley and Drew Wilson, all of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Kano Laverne and Judy Ellis of Seattle, Washington; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Luiretta and Henry McFarland of Berkeley Lake and Reba Louise and John Stillwell of Moultrie; two sisters-in-law, Eva Ellis of Watkinsville and Betty Ellis of Tifton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Britt and Ariel Wilson, Justin Wilson, Ryan and Alena Norton and Avery and Kerri Norton; three great-grandchildren, Brielle Wilson, Bryleigh Wilson and Emmeline Norton; and several nieces and nephews.
