New Bedford – Lydia (Rose) Vieira Martin, 83, of New Bedford died January 7, 2006 at New Bedford Health Care.
Mrs. Martin was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Frank G. and Diamantina (Avila) Rose, and was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School. She was employed as an inspector by the former Cameo Curtains, New Bedford until her retirement. She enjoyed square dancing and gardening.
Survivors include a son: Robert Vieira of New Bedford; a brother: Edmund G. Rose of Brewster, NY; 2 nephews; and 2 great nephews.
She was sister of the late Beatrice A. Pollitt and companion of the late Maurice Jacques.

Memorial service on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 8:30 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Suite 301, Brockton, MA 02401.
Interment will be private.
