Steve Smith, 64, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, June 10, 2019, at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Jody Silvers officiating. Eulogies will be given by Gary Gunn, Jean Carol Ruis, and Doug McIntyre. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Smith was born October 24, 1954, in Coffee County, Georgia to W.L. & Frankie Gunn Smith. He was a graduate of Broxton High School. He began his career in farming at an early age and worked as purchasing manager for Pace America. He returned to farming and loved working the land. Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting deer and turkey as well as fishing. He loved music, both singing and playing guitar. His greatest love was for his family. He was a member of New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Terri Smith; children: Ben Smith and Becki & Jason Ledbetter; grandchildren: Ty Hollinger and Iva Grace Wilder; his parents, W.L. & Frankie Smith; a sister, Sandra & Newton Sellers; a sister-in-law, Janice Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his Schnauzer, Penelope. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Smith and a beloved niece, Laci Smith.
