Vitalina G. (Mallozzi) Simeone, of Medford, formerly of Boston's North End, passed away on Tuesday, June 4th at the Care One Nursing Home, in Wilmington. She was 91. Born and raised in Sant`Apollinare, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Guiseppa (Di Sano) Mallozzi and married to the late Errico Simeone.
Vitalina came to America in 1957, from Sant`Apollinare and settled in the North End before moving to Medford, where she and Errico would raise their three children.
She enjoyed cooking everything was made from scratch. She was known for her rustic Italian dishes. Her homemade sauce, pasta, manicotti, chicken cutlets and fried potatoes were specialties that she was always glad to prepare for family and friends, as well as her favorite cookies that she would take to all the family celebrations. Family was extremely important to Vitalina. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
When Vitalina was not spending time with her family, you could find her in her garden. She had a natural green thumb, it showed from the bountiful amount of tomatoes that grew, which she would use for her famous sauce and canned for later use. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting; she always made sure that everyone had their share of afghans, doilies, table runners and placemats.
Vitalina was the beloved wife of the late Errico Simeone. She was the devoted mother of John Simeone and his late wife Lita, Silvana Smith and her husband Gregory, and the late Anthony Simeone. She was the loving Nonna of 8, and great Nonna of 6. She is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday, June 10th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
