Lawrence J. Almeida, 57, of New Bedford died June 29, 2002 at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Louise C. (DaSilva) Almeida and son of Liduina R. (Almeida) Martins of New Bedford and the late Umberto S. Martins.
Mr. Almeida was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Mr. Almeida was employed by the City of New Bedford, Department of Solid Waste for 23 years. He had previously worked at Oliver Shell Gas Station for several years.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Lawrence J. Almeida, Jr. and John E. Almeida, both of New Bedford; a daughter Tammy M. Almeida of New Bedford, 3 brothers, Raymond Almeida and Albert Martins both of New Bedford, Joseph Martins of Virginia, and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours Tuesday, July 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Interment private.
