Arthur Scopelliti, Jr., 92, of Ursula Road in Smithfield, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 in his home. He was the husband of the late Clara (Uva) Scopelliti.
Born in Providence, Arthur was the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Ursillo) Scopelliti, Sr.
He was a WWII Army veteran, and spent 35 years working at the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI before retiring as Chief of Technical Support.
He leaves his sons, David Scopelliti of New Albany, IA and Ronald Scopelliti of Smithfield. He also leaves his grandchildren Eric Scopelliti and wife Jessica Bridgehouse, and Shelley Ann Squires and husband Jeremy Squires; great granddaughter Olivia Picard, and great grandchildren through marriage Jonah Squires and Violet Squires. He was the brother of Steven Scopelliti of Glocester, and the late Vincent Scopelliti, Florence Moskwa, Rita Pignatelli and Helen Ruggieri. He also leaves a beloved cat, Hunter.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Thursday 5-7pm at Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Highland Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.aspca.org.
