Obituary

DeVasto, Arthur P. “Skip”, 67 of West Roxbury, died suddenly on May 22. Arthur leaves his mother Alice Sullivan and his brother Damien DeVasto of Charlestown. He is survived by a daughter Leigh Ann Eldridge, granddaughter Reece Marie, and Lois Chick, his former wife all of Cape Cod. He is predeceased by his father Arthur J. and his brother Stephen. “Skip” was given his nickname as a two year old for his joyful jumping around and a talent for mischief. Attending UMass, Boston he discovered his skill in writing and rehabilitation studies. He worked as a union Carpenter and drove a cab in the slow times. There were hard times in his journey and periods of painful struggle. On his birthday December 26, 2018 he experienced an Epiphany bringing fully the beautiful person to light again. He was so happy to feel the world filled with love from his family and many others. He had wonderful support from his physician Dr. Rebecca Glassman of Beth Israel Hospital. He went too soon but had made significant strides in his life and for those he loved. We honor him for his drive, his help to many others and the will to never give up. He wore his gold Irish cross always. Skip had many gifts, among those was his kindness and desire to help others. He was truly a man who would give you the shirt off his back. He served our country in the U. S. Coast Guard. My God, we will miss him.
