Wilkie F. Glenn, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Wright and the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Glenn was born February 20, 1951, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Sam & Virginia Rhodes Glenn. He was a 1968 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1972. He worked as a banker for Trust Company Bank in Atlanta before returning home to Fitzgerald in 1975. Mr. Glenn was a loan officer and branch manager for C&S Bank in Fitzgerald and was manager of Planters Warehouse for many years. Following his retirement, he worked as a contractor for the Farm Service Agency. He was active in many civic organizations including serving as treasurer of the Fitzgerald Jaycees and as a board member for the Fitzgerald Country Club. He was a member of Young Farmers and served on the Fitzgerald City Schools Board of Education during their merger with Ben Hill County Schools. Mr. Glenn was a member of the Colony Bank of Fitzgerald Board for 22 years and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne Wilson Glenn of Fitzgerald; their daughters, Jenny McCranie of Fitzgerald and Rebecca & Marc Shumans of Baxley; grandchildren: Rhodes McCranie, Murphey McCranie, Glenn Shumans, and Wilson Shumans; two sisters: Cheryl & Dwight Howard of Dawsonville and Jennifer & Ted Phillips of Guntersville, Alabama, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Matt McCranie.
