Thomas Anthony Rasys, 60, recent resident of Kennebunkport, ME, and previous resident of Cambridge, MA and Winchester,MA passed away in his Kennebunkport home on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
Tom—known by many as “Radar”—was unapologetically himself, and those who knew him loved him for it. He valued his Lithuanian heritage and everything that came with it, especially checking in with his relatives near and far, from Chicago to Lithuania. In his younger days, he enjoyed scouting, sports clubs, camps and other Lithuanian community activities. He also found joy in skiing, playing basketball with his buddies at the Cambridge YMCA, and hosting poker nights in his Cambridge apartment. In recent years, he enjoyed discovering the best, unconventional local places to eat and drink, antiquing, taking his chances at the roulette table, and enjoying all the good things his adopted state of Maine had to offer.
Above all else—and spanning his entire life—Tom relished in being the life of the party to his friends, family, and whoever was within the vicinity of his conversation. His joy for bringing smiles and laughter to the faces of those around him lives on in his daughters.
Tom is survived by ex-wife, Brigita Rasys, with whom he had a truly beautiful, loving friendship and the daughters they share, Sofia and Alisa Rasys, who were his whole world. He found joy and comfort in the moments they chose to spend together as a family unit—from dinners, to birthdays, and holidays. He was incredibly proud of the closeness they maintained as one big happy family, despite separation and distance. His daughters will forever remember him as the funniest dad with the most out of control belly, a source of endless jokes, and as having a heart of gold who provided for them in all the ways he knew how. While they are left with aching sorrow and yearning for more time, they find solace in knowing that he is finally at true peace, sending them strength and laughter from Heaven.
Tom earned a BA in Economics at Harvard University Extension School and was involved in several entrepreneurial pursuits.
In addition to Brigita, Sofia and Alisa, Tom is survived by his brother, Vitas Rasys, and predeceased by his loving parents Joseph Rasys and Irene (Ragauskas) Rasys. He also leaves behind loving family members in Chicago, IL and Lithuania.
