Doyle F. Harris, 72, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ike Thomas and the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mr. Harris was born June 28, 1946, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Cecil & Cora Lee Kight Harris. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for CSX Railroad for over 30 years, retiring as a conductor. He was an Honorary Papa to many daycare children that attended My Little Angels Daycare, owned and operated by his wife, Deborah. Mr. Harris was an avid reader and enjoyed action novels. He loved to watch NASCAR and Florida Gators football. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah King Harris of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Ricky Harris & Tabitha of Middleburg, Florida, Truman Grimsley & Amber of Fitzgerald, and Dale Horn & Jimmy of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Beth Layfield & Daniel, Ashley Hauesler & Greg, Matt Harris, Andrew Young, Jacob Harris, Josh Harris, Michael Horn, Katie Horn, Taylor Grimsley, Trey Grimsley, Lili Grimsley, and Dameon Dent; two great-grandsons: Ayden Layfield and Jackson Layfield; and siblings: Carl Harris & Linda, Nell Pillars, Linda Baker & Bert, Wanda Tillotson & George, and Don Harris & Geraldine, all of Florida.
