TEWKSBURY: Eduardo F. Lacerda, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 11 years, passed away at home in the care of his family and All Care Hospice, on Friday, May 24, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Maria (Silva) Lacerda, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Born in Faial, Portugal on January 16, 1934, he emigrated to Cambridge, MA in 1959. He resided in Cambridge for several years until moving to Dennis and later Hyannis. In later years, Eduardo came to reside in Malden and Medford until moving to Tewksbury in 2008.
Eduardo worked as a carpenter for many years on the Cape, where he remodeled and constructed numerous residences on Cape Cod. He later joined the Facilities Management and Maintenance Dept. at Boston University, where he worked until his retirement.
He enjoyed salt water fishing, playing the guitar and dancing to Portuguese folk music.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Albano M. Lacerda and his wife Mina of Tewksbury, Connie Bacon and her husband Jeffrey of Marstons Mills, and Shiela M. Breen and her husband Joseph of Tewksbury; his cherished grandchildren, Alan, Adam, Alex, Ajay, and Anisha Lacerda, and Matthew and Ashley Breen. He was the beloved brother of Benigna Soares, Estela Duarte, Geraldina DaSilva, Filomena Tavares, Jose Manuel Lacerda, Gabriel Lacerda, and the late Manuela DaSilva, Filomena Pinto, and Albano Lacerda. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 29, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, to be followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
