AGAWAM ~ David Thurman Nelson, 64, of Gardner, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 19, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall West in Agawam surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on February 13, 1955, a beloved son of the late Warren A. Nelson, Sr. who was Called Home on January 25, 1983 and Jeanne M. (Morin) Nelson who was Called Home on February 18, 2019. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and had moved to San Francisco, California. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree and had lived in San Francisco most of his life before returning to Holyoke in the 1990’s. He later moved to Gardner in 2009 where he lived until his recent move to Agawam. David loved cooking and had worked as a chef at the Howard Johnson Hotel and Restaurant in Holyoke. During his leisure time, David enjoyed fishing, playing his harmonica and watching Nascar races. Above all, David loved spending time with his family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving sister, Vicki M. Nelson. He leaves his four loving brothers, Warren A. Nelson, Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Beaver Creek, OH, Gary L. Nelson of Holyoke, Thomas J. Nelson of West Springfield and John W. Nelson of Springfield; his loving sister, Lisa A. Starnes and her husband, Pastor Paul Starnes, of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Nelson and Morin families. At David’s request, his family will host a Memorial Service at a later date. His Burial will be private at the convenience of his family. There are no visiting hours.
