SOMERSET – Evelyn (Rogers) Souza, age 96, of Somerset, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Antone C. Souza. Born in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Wilhermina (Estrella) Rogers. She was employed by Hascon Industries in Taunton and worked as a streamstress for numerous sewing shops in the Fall River area. Evelyn was a member of the Somerset Senior Citizens Club and a long time parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset. She enjoyed card games, going for walks, word search puzzles, cooking, and especially spending time with family. She was known for her unique sense of humor and was a kind and loving person, who along with her late husband, had taken in numerous family members throughout the years.
Evelyn is survived by her sons Richard A. Souza of Somerset, who was also her caretaker and Paul A. Souza and his wife Marilyn of Mansfield; 4 grandchildren Andrea Chiles and her husband Mark of Spring, TX, Jaime Gaytko of Houston, TX, Paul Souza of Attleboro and Mark Souza of Mansfield; 4 great-grandchildren Jared, Hayley and Madison Carreiro of Spring, TX and Macoy Gaytko of Houston, TX; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers David, John, Joseph, Thomas and Richard Rogers.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday, May 24th here at 10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset at 11 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
