It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine “Becky” (Makris) DerBoghosian announces her passing on May 17, 2019, at age 87. Beloved wife of the late Arthur DerBoghosian for 60 years, loving mother to John and his wife Linda, Diane and her partner Lisa, Irene and her husband Demetri, Michael and his wife Karym, Stephen and his wife Catherine, and Philip and his wife Gail, and was a loving grandmother to Catherine, Anna, Nicholas, Alexander, Alexa, Nicole, and the late Jesse. Becky is also survived by her sister Irene Cagos and her husband Aristides, and many nieces and nephews. Becky was preceded in death by her brothers John and James Makris, and her sisters Olga Paras and Betty Smerlas.
With her passing, Becky leaves an unfillable void in our lives. All who knew her would agree, this incredibly wonderful woman was a kind and gentle soul who lived her life putting the needs of others above her own. With a husband and six children, her challenges and sacrifices were undoubtedly great, yet she handled every one of life’s moments with calm and grace. We were fortunate to have her as a mother and hope that wherever she is, she finds comfort knowing that her light will burn brightly in all of us for the rest of our lives.
A memorial visitation for Becky will be held at the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown, MA on Tuesday, May 28, from 5:00 to 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org or the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
