Laurette (Buteau) Valentine, age 89, was called safely home surrounded by her loving family on May 15, 2019 at Mount Saint Vincent Nursing Home in Holyoke. She was born on May 3, 1930 in Chicopee, a daughter of the late Felix and Corinne (Vincent) Buteau. Laurette worked as a Senior Clerk for the Registry of Motor Vehicles for over 24 years before she retired. She was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, a member of the Franco-American Women’s Club in Chicopee and an avid card player. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and spending time with family. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Jose “Joseph” E. Valentine who passed away in 2009. She is survived by her daughters Carmina Provost and her companion Stanley Cheika Jr., of Chicopee, Diane Charest and her husband John of Fitchburg, MA, Cindy Valentine and her spouse Tammy Shafer of Chicopee and Pamela Trett and her husband Charles of Fryeburg, ME; One sister, Dolly Asselin and her husband Eugene of Chicopee; sister-in-law Elvira Buteau of Chicopee; Brother-in-law Wilfred Maiolo of East Longmeadow; Eight grandchildren, Collin and his wife Jennifer, Renee, Robert and his wife Katie, Ian and his wife Erin, Timothy and his wife Kate, Daniel and his wife Kristin, Carlija and Megan; Eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son-in-law James Provost who passed in 1999; her siblings Jean Buteau, Normand Buteau, Madeline Sample and Theresa Maiolo. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Mass in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 11:30 AM.
