1927-2019
Evelyn “Jean” Green, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson.
She was born and raised in Alexandria, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Sturm and was a resident of Chesterfield for 65 years.
Jean graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She worked as an RN initially at Elwood hospital, then for many years at St John’s Hospital in Anderson. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Open Door Community Clinic in Muncie and worked there for 23 years before her retirement.
Jean, a member of the Chesterfield Christian Church, was famous for her pies at the church bazaars. In fact, family and friends enjoyed all of Jean’s cooking. Jean loved camping and traveling with the love of her life, Don. They shared many adventures together and several winters at Gulf Shores in their RV. Jean was also an avid golfer and bridge player. She loved playing word games and working crossword puzzles. She was blessed with many good friends over the years.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her daughter, Peggy Day.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Donald Green; son, Michael Green and wife Betty of Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Candace Day of Chesterfield, IN and Emily Green of Lansdale, PA; grandson Adam Green and wife Morgan of Staten Island, NY and great-granddaughter Anwen as well as numerous brother and sister-in-laws that were like siblings to her.
Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Nurse's Honor Guard Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Chesterfield Christian Church then the funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bronnenberg Cemetery, Chesterfield.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Services, 229 S Rangeline Rd, Anderson, IN 46012, Anderson, and one hour before the service Monday at the church.
Flowers or In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chesterfield Christian Church.
