Leo A. Gidare of Revere died on Monday, May 13, at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center. Born and raised in Boston's North End, he was the son of the late Alfredo and Giovanna (Pagniotta) Gidare. Leo proudly served in the Army during World War II, after which he settled in Medford and worked for many years as an accountant. Leo was a former member and treasurer of the Medford Elks, the American Legion, and the San Pantaleone Society. He moved to Winchester five years ago.
Leo was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Grande) Gidare, and the devoted father of Joanne Budge and her husband Gary J. Budge of New York City, Mary-Ann Marino and her husband Richard T. Marino of Medford, and Elizabeth Sorgi and her husband Lawrence Sorgi of Marblehead. He was the loving grandfather of Richard T. Marino Jr. and his wife Jessica of Portland, Maine, Michael P. Marino of Henderson, Nevada, Matthew J. Marino and his wife Stacey of Woburn, and Anthony Sorrentino and his wife Sarah of Charlestown. Leo was the loving step-grandfather of Alexandra Sorgi and her husband Ryan Fairchild of New Jersey, and Mark Sorgi of Watertown. He was the great grandfather of Lily, Grace, Julia, Caterina, Gennaro, and Vincenzo, and the dear brother of Maria Aloise of Lynnfield and her late husband Alfred, the late Orlando Gidare, and the late Theresa Aloise and her husband Domenic. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, May 18 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, May 17 at 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
