Curtis Bennett Sutton, 66, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with David Breyfogle and Steve Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Sutton was born May 22, 1952, in Bartow, Florida, to the late Travis & Cleo Bennett Sutton. He attended college and was a lifelong truck driver. He more recently drove for Ocilla Cotton Gin, Pike Electric and Lippert Components. Mr. Sutton was a hard worker who loved his family. He was a compassionate man and enjoyed grilling and cooking. A man of very strong faith, he was not ashamed to share Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nellie West Sutton of Fitzgerald; children: Curtis Steven Sutton & Anna Ethridge, Malina Cecilia Sutton Breyfogle & David, and Rebecca Michelle Sutton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four siblings: Judy Alston, Carol Lee Holloman, Rodney Sutton & Barbara, and Janice Holman & Steve; two sisters-in-law, Georgianna Shiver and Robin Sutton; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Bennett Sutton; a grandson, Christopher Scott Sutton; and two brothers: Ernest Wayne Shiver, Jr. and Travis C. Sutton.
